Coming back to our topic, the reason why we’re writing this topic is simple: Ryzen 2700X, like most other Ryzen CPUs, doesn’t come with an integrated graphics unit.

It means you have to pair it with a compatible graphics card to play those AAA titles in high-res.

To be frank, all the latest graphics cards that have more than 4 GB VRAM will work with 2700X. The main problem you may face in this regard is the CPU bottlenecking – if you use a graphics card too powerful for 2700X.

Luckily, all the graphics card we have included in this list are suitable for 2700X, and give little-to-no bottleneck.

So let’s begin without any further ado.

PowerColor Red Dragon RX 5600 XT

Best AMD GPU For Ryzen 7 2700X

Red Dragon RX 5600 XT is a new midrange graphics card by PowerColor.

Based on the original RX 5600 XT, it offers a few changes in the form of triple-slot design, dual-BIOS, dual-fan cooling, and higher clock speeds. These changes, however, result in the extra 30 bucks you have spend to get this model.

In terms of design, Red Dragon RX 5600 XT features different shades of grey color, and has an RGB-illuminated Red Dragon Logo on its metal backplate. Being a triple-slot card, it occupies three PCIe slots of your motherboard.

On the top-right corner, you’ll find a dual-BIOS switch. This graphics card has two BIOS: OC and silent, and you can switch between them according to your taste. That being said, we later found that there’s no noticeable difference between the silent and the OC mode.

The games on which we tested this card include Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5, and the Battlefield V.

With highest quality mode in Shadow of The Tomb Raider, and with TAA and HBAO+ turned on, I got 96 FPS on average @1080p resolution. This is more than what we got from the likes of RTX 2070 and GTX 1080, but it still fell short of RTX 2060 Super by as much as 10%.

When resolution was set to 1440p, the frame rate dropped but still crossed the 60 FPS mark.

When played Battlefield V at Ultra settings, we got 117 FPS @1080 resolution and 86 FPS @1440p.

Overall, Red Dragon RX 5600 XT is a decent midrange GPU that excels in 1080p and 1440p gaming. There are some games like Metro: exodus and Borderlands 3, however, where this GPU will restrict you @1080p.

It offers 5% better performance than regular RX 5600 XT with the price difference of just $30.

If you compare it to Nvidia’s offerings, you get significantly better performance than the likes GTX 1660 Ti and 1660 Super, while still getting below RTX 2070 and 2060 Super.

All of this makes Red Dragon RX 5600 XT a pretty attractive option because you’re only getting 10% less performance than the RTX 2060 Super cards while saving you more than 100 bucks.

The temperature levels are a bit higher than we would’ve liked, but it’s most probably due to slow fan speeds and it actually helps in bringing the noise level down. Like many other graphics cards these days, there’s a 0db feature though which fans don’t spin unless the graphics core get hotter than 60 Celsius.

Secondly, while 6GB VRAM is good for most of the games out there, 8 GB would’ve been even better – especially if you consider the money you’re spending on this card. Lastly, we couldn’t find any big performance difference between its standard and OC mode.

MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gaming X

Best Nvidia GPU For Ryzen 7 2700X

Next we have the RTX 2060 Super Gaming X by MSI – one of the beefier variants of the standard rtx 2060 super card.

Like other MSI RTX Super models, you get a black/dark grey scheme on the front side here, along with with gunmetal black on the metal plate at the back. This backplate has five cutouts at different locations and features MSI dragon logo on its right side.

This dragon logo comes with RGB which adds flavor to overall design of this graphics card.

On the right corner of the card, there’s a standard 8-pin power connectors while the rear comes with 3 DisplayPorts 1.4 and 1 HDMI 2.0 port.

There are two MSI custom fans used to actively cooled the card. And the best thing about these fans is that they feature two different types of blades in order to provide better airflow.

If we talk about internals, there’s a nickel-plated copper heatsink base plate that contains four nickel-plated copper heatpipes. In order to have extra surface area for heat dissipation, these heatpipes make contact to the graphic core and then extend to different aluminum fins.

Another good thing I found here is that the heatsink is attached to the PCB with just four screws, which makes it very easy to clean the graphics card in the future.

In order to measure its gaming performance, I played a variety of AAA titles on it, such as GTA 5, Far Cry 5, The Witcher 3, and Shadow of The Tomb Raider.

We playing GTA V, I turned the TXAA off, set the graphics level to Very High, and got 157 FPS on 1080p resolution. In Far Cry 5, I set the graphics level to Ultra and got 122 FPS and 91 Fps on average, for 1080p and 1440p resolution respectively. We I tried to play on 4K resolution, it fell well below the 60 fps mark, and could only make it to 47.

Same happened in Shadow of The Tomb Raider, where I got 109 FPS and 74 FPS on 1080p and 1440p resolutions (Highest Preset) but got only 38 FPS in 4K.

In terms of power consumption, Gaming X gpu performs almost same as the RTX 2060 Super Founders Edition because both of them have the same 175 W power limit. In gaming though, it consumes almost 200 Watts on average.

Overall, Gaming X RTX 2060 super is pretty solid midrange graphics card that offers a good improvement over the standard RTX 2060 card, and allows you to play 1440p games at ease.

Its 8 GB VRAM is more than enough for most games out there, it comes with a good overclocking headroom, and the Twin Frozr 7 thermal design provides a nice balance between the aesthetics and the performance.

These fans don’t spin until the GPU hit the 60 Celsius mark, and don’t allow the temperature with go north of 80 Celsius in any case.

You also get RGB here and it’s not over-the-top by any means.

In short, if you want to stay with Team Nvidia and aren’t considering 4K gaming, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give it a try.
